Hi everyone! Hope you had a fabulous weekend! Today I wanted to share a project that my husband and I just finished up!
When we built our house, I knew I wanted a barn door to the entrance to our laundry room. We finally put the finishing touches on it a few weeks ago!
AFTER
BEFORE
This is our what the entrance to our laundry originally looked like. We had a window installed in our laundry room, so I knew wanted a sliding door with a window to let the light in.
This door needed some major love!
First, we started out looking for a barn door. We ended up finding one at K Leigh Bugs Antiques. We had to make sure the door was solid wood because the hardware for the sliding door does not work on hollow doors.
Next, we sanded the door down and painted it. The color we used was Sherwin Williams Copen Blue. (The island in our kitchen is this color)
I used a high density roller to paint on the door. I also used paint that already included primer. We applied two coats.
My husband filled in the holes that were in the door with dowel rods.
While that was drying, we used chalkboard paint to make a chalkboard wall next to where the door was going to slide. You can pick this paint up at Target.
Once the paint dried, we added white trim to frame out the board. Our trim board did not match our white trim, so I went ahead and painted it to match.
I have to give credit to my husband, he drew this on the board!
Next, we added the hardware and attached the door! The hardware was purchsed at Lowe's. This was the most expensive part of the whole project!
We did a lot of research on the hardware. There were a lot of other cheaper versions, but the door is used every single day, I wanted something that was going to last.
This summer, we are on working on my office! Cannot wait to share that!
Have a great day!
Amazing decor ideas!
